The Carp Deity was commissioned as a welcome piece to the lake, a wow factor.. Worth the pilgrimage from the UK for. It was based on one of our linear residents who became elusive for more than 2 years, he became known as Crosby named after keen fishermen Paul Crosby. A very talented artist named Karl Barker created the chainsaw carving which measures 7ft x 3ft and weighs in at approx. 500kgs or 1100lbs. We thought as a gesture to the Carp Deity that anyone who catches more than his weight in 1100lbs in one week is welcome back the following year for a free holiday. If you win the holiday then there would’ve been a good chance that the original Crosby would’ve graced the bank.. Could you imagine if it was Crosby that tipped you over the 1100lb mark.. All the stars would’ve aligned and you will be rewarded a free holiday for the following 3 seasons.
All we require is photo documentation for the whole 1100lb haul to validate the win.
We are also running a seasonally photography competition for the best photo of one of our residents at Fishermens Retreat. Send us your best quality photos via email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will choose one at the close of each season to be turned into a pastel painting and we will hang the original in our cottage and send a copy of the painting to the winner.
